What outlasts childhood and what does not
A 90x200 bed suits a six year old and a teenager alike: it is already adult sized, and only the bedding changes. A wardrobe and a chest also last the whole of childhood, because their contents are simply moved to a higher rail. A chair and a desk height, on the other hand, are outgrown within a year or two, which is why what you pay for here is the adjustment rather than the looks.

About a desk by the window. Light should fall from the left if the child is right handed and from the right if left handed, otherwise the writing hand casts a permanent shadow on the page. That matters more than the view, and it is the one constraint a desk lamp cannot fix afterwards.
