Water filters: choosing a system for a flat
Choosing a filter comes down to two questions: how much water you drink in a day, and whether you are willing to fit something under the sink. Everything else follows from the answers.

What matters specifically in Israel
The main everyday problem with the water here is visible to the eye: limescale on the kettle, on the tap and on the shower glass. Those are hardness salts, and they are also what gives the taste and the sediment in a cup. Replacement cartridges are not a detail but half the cost of ownership. A jug is cheap, but the cartridge is changed every six to eight weeks, and over a year that adds up. An under sink system costs more up front, but its modules last from six months. Before choosing, look at the replacement cartridges for the specific model: that is the real price of the filter.
