Transforming tables: two tables in one
A transformer is bought to save square metres, not money. It makes sense where a dining table is needed twice a week and the walkway is needed every day.
What turns into what

What to measure before ordering
Only the open size, and always together with the walkway: around the table, on the sides where people walk, you need 80 to 90 cm for a pulled out chair. The closed size only matters for understanding how much room the table takes the rest of the time. Both are on the product page.
Tops
The section includes models in glass, in ceramic and in board in various decors. Glass absorbs nothing and is unbothered by heat but shows every fingerprint. Ceramic is the most resistant to knives and hot pans and the heaviest. Board is the calmer choice on price, but its edge should be kept away from constant damp.
It is the mechanism that wears, not the top. A transformer opened twice a week will run several hundred cycles over five years. So when choosing, look not only at the appearance but at how the table behaves as it opens: if the mechanism needs force, or the top comes up out of true already in the shop, it only gets worse from there.
