Why wood makes this sharper
On board the decor is printed, and «sonoma oak» differs predictably between two factories. With wood it is more involved: the shade depends on the batch of timber, on the stain and on how much lacquer went on. The same «oak» on a table and on a chair can drift in different directions, and it shows not in a photograph but when the pieces stand side by side in light from the window. In a set, table and chairs come from the same batch.
