LIVIA 160: two levels and side shelves for speakers

A black carcass, white gloss fronts and a top in the same gloss: the contrast here is made with colour rather than shape. LIVIA is built on two levels, and that is its chief trick: devices spread out in height instead of stacking on one another.

Who it suits

Meant for the room where a whole set gathers under the screen: a set-top box, a console, an audio system and remotes for all of them. The side shelves are meant to take speakers too, so no separate stands are needed.

What you will like

a two-level layout, so devices do not pile up on one tier
open shelves at the sides that take speakers
a middle shelf fitted only if you want it
a roomy closed section with one divider
top and fronts in high gloss

It measures 160 by 40 cm and stands 45 cm tall. That height is chosen for a television watched from a sofa: the screen lands at the eye level of someone seated rather than above it.

What does a two-level LIVIA unit mean? Inside are two tiers of different height, so a box, a receiver and a player each stand in their own place rather than on top of each other. They also run cooler that way.

Can speakers really go in the side shelves? Yes, the side niches were drawn for oddments and for speakers. The shelf across a niche is optional, and without it a taller speaker fits.

Materials and finish

Carcass in laminated board and 16 mm MDF, HDF back panel, ABS edging, fronts in high gloss. Black matt carcass, white gloss fronts and top. Warranty 12 months. BIM Furniture, Poland.

Frequently asked questions

Will white gloss on a black carcass yellow over time?
The gloss film on the fronts holds up to light. Cheap lacquer coatings are what yellows, and this is board with a finished surface.

Is the middle shelf included?
Yes, it is included, and you decide on the spot whether to fit it or leave the niche full height for a speaker.

More about this piece

Laminated chipboard

Wood particles pressed into a solid board and faced with laminate on both sides. The workhorse of cabinet furniture: holds its shape, tolerates everyday moisture, wipes clean.

MDF board

Wood fibres bonded under pressure make a panel denser than chipboard. It holds milled patterns and curved profiles, so fronts with relief are made of it.

Gloss finish

Reflects light and makes a piece look lighter. Fingerprints show more on dark gloss, so it needs wiping more often.

Matt finish

No reflections, and it hides fingerprints and light scratches. In a small room it reads calmer than gloss.

Manufacturer warranty

The factory warranty runs 12 месяцев from delivery. It covers material and assembly defects, but not natural wear or damage caused by misuse.

Made in Poland

Shipped straight from the factory, built to European furniture manufacturing standards.
