RAVENNA C 150: a front of pyramids instead of ribs

A television unit 150 cm long, three doors. The main difference from the rest of RAVENNA is the front: instead of vertical ribs there is a continuous grid of small pyramids, and light breaks on it into points.

The front is built not of ribs but of small four-sided pyramids: gloss catches them as points rather than stripes. The support is a gold metal frame around the base, the only light note on the piece.

Who it suits

For a living room where the wall behind the television is bare and asks for texture. The relief stands in for a wall panel: nothing more needs hanging above the unit. The 150 cm length suits a 55-inch screen.

What you will like

a front of small four-sided pyramids in a continuous grid
gloss breaks the light into points rather than stripes
three doors, vertical dividers inside
the relief stands in for a panel on the wall behind the television
a height of 58 cm and a depth of 42 cm

Dimensions: 150 cm long, 42 cm deep, 58 cm high. The height is set for a sofa: the screen lands at seated eye level rather than above it, and the neck is not tipped back.

What it stands with

Taken by those who find ribs too familiar: pyramids are rarer and work at a distance, not only close up. The trade-off is a busier pattern, so a shelf or a picture above this unit is best left out: the wall should stay bare, or two kinds of decor begin to argue. Black gloss is chosen for depth: a matt carcase and a shiny front give two different blacks in one piece.

Are the pyramids on the front hard to wipe? The facets are wide and shallow, and a cloth runs over them without snagging. Unlike a narrow rib, there is no deep groove to collect dust - the surface is closer to a washboard than to a comb.

How does the C range differ from B? In the front alone. Carcase, dimensions, partitions and supports are shared; the pattern differs: B has vertical ribs under matt foil, C a glossy grid of pyramids.

Materials and finish

A laminated chipboard carcase, milled MDF fronts. Finish: black mat with black gloss front. Support: gold frame. Warranty 12 months. Factory BIM Furniture, Poland.

Frequently asked questions

Will the relief on the front not chip?
The pyramids are milled into the MDF panel itself; this is not applied decor, so nothing can come off. The gloss coat is laid over the relief and follows its facets.

Will fingerprints show on the gloss?
On flat gloss, yes; on this relief, almost not: a touch lands on the pyramid tips while the reflection breaks up between facets. There are also no handles, so a hand meets the edge rather than the middle.

More about this piece

Laminated chipboard

Wood particles pressed into a solid board and faced with laminate on both sides. The workhorse of cabinet furniture: holds its shape, tolerates everyday moisture, wipes clean.

MDF board

Wood fibres bonded under pressure make a panel denser than chipboard. It holds milled patterns and curved profiles, so fronts with relief are made of it.

Gloss finish

Reflects light and makes a piece look lighter. Fingerprints show more on dark gloss, so it needs wiping more often.

Matt finish

No reflections, and it hides fingerprints and light scratches. In a small room it reads calmer than gloss.

Milled front

The pattern is cut into the panel itself rather than glued on, so it is felt by hand and cannot come away.

Metal supports

Metal legs or a frame carry weight better than plastic and do not work loose. On cabinet furniture the gap underneath also lets you clean below the piece.

Manufacturer warranty

The factory warranty runs 12 месяцев from delivery. It covers material and assembly defects, but not natural wear or damage caused by misuse.

Made in Poland

Shipped straight from the factory, built to European furniture manufacturing standards.
