AQUAPHOR MAXFOR+ and A5 cartridges for jugs and bottles

With a jug, the entire cost of ownership sits in the cartridges. The jug itself is inexpensive and lasts for years; the module is used up every six to eight weeks.

What you will find

Module	Where it goes
MAXFOR+	The basic module for jugs in the range. The same one fits Compact, Ametist, Jasper and Onyx.
MAXFOR+ Mg	The same, but with added magnesium. It differs only in the media inside and is identical in fit.
A5 Mg	A module from a different series, also with magnesium.
Bottle cartridge	Its own, for the AQUAPHOR City filter bottle only. It does not fit jugs.

Sets work out cheaper

Modules are sold singly and in packs of 4, 6, 12 and 13. A pack of 12 or 13 covers roughly two years of use and works out noticeably better per month. That only makes sense on one condition: the modules are kept in sealed packaging, since an opened but unused cartridge loses its properties over time.

A new module should be rinsed under running water before first use, and the first jugful poured away. The instructions say so, but people usually skip it and are then surprised by a grey haze in the jug: that is carbon dust, not a defect.
