RAVENNA B 90: a coffee table with a through-niche

A coffee table 90 by 60 cm. Under the top runs a through-niche the full length, split by a divider into two bays: it takes what should be within reach but not on show. There are no doors or drawers at all, so dust has no closed corners to gather in.

An artisan oak carcase with black mat fronts: rib and groove share a colour, so the pattern lives on shadow alone. The support is a gold metal frame around the base, the only light note on the piece.

Who it suits

Taken for a sofa in a living room that already has a unit or a chest from the same range: the fluting and the support are shared, so the table does not look borrowed from another set. The niche takes remotes, magazines and games.

What you will like

a through-niche under the top, split in two by a divider
fluted sides, a smooth top
no doors and no drawers - nothing to jam, nothing to wipe inside
a height of 45 cm, level with the seat of an ordinary sofa
90 by 60 cm fits between a sofa and a television unit

Dimensions: 90 cm long, 60 cm wide, 45 cm high. The top is level with a sofa seat, so a cup is set down and picked up without stooping.

What it stands with

Taken as a third piece alongside the television unit and the chest from the same range: all three share one fluting, one foil and one support, and together they read as a set rather than a random gathering. If the room already has a table from another series, this one is better left out: two different reliefs side by side argue. Oak with a black front is chosen where timber is already present - a floor, a table, a shelf - and the piece picks up its tone.

What fits in the niche of the RAVENNA coffee table? The niche runs right through and is split in two: one bay takes magazines and a board game, the other remotes and chargers. There is height for a stack of books lying flat.

How does the RAVENNA table differ from one with a drawer? An open niche is visible in full, so a forgotten item does not vanish for months. In return things have to be kept tidy: there is no door to shut them behind.

Materials and finish

A laminated chipboard carcase, milled MDF fronts. Finish: artisan oak with black mat front. Support: gold frame. Warranty 12 months. Factory BIM Furniture, Poland.

Frequently asked questions

Is the table heavy? Can one person move it?
A chipboard carcase with an open niche is not heavy, and one person can slide the table across a rug. Lifting is better done by two: the frame is bolted to the underside and should not be pulled on its own.

Will the top take a hot mug?
The foil copes with the warmth of a mug of tea, but a pot or a coffee maker needs a mat: long contact with a hot base leaves a dull mark.

More about this piece

Laminated chipboard

Wood particles pressed into a solid board and faced with laminate on both sides. The workhorse of cabinet furniture: holds its shape, tolerates everyday moisture, wipes clean.

MDF board

Wood fibres bonded under pressure make a panel denser than chipboard. It holds milled patterns and curved profiles, so fronts with relief are made of it.

Matt finish

No reflections, and it hides fingerprints and light scratches. In a small room it reads calmer than gloss.

Milled front

The pattern is cut into the panel itself rather than glued on, so it is felt by hand and cannot come away.

Fluted front

Vertical slats or grooves run across the face, drawing the eye upwards and playing with light to lift an otherwise plain carcase.

Metal supports

Metal legs or a frame carry weight better than plastic and do not work loose. On cabinet furniture the gap underneath also lets you clean below the piece.

Manufacturer warranty

The factory warranty runs 12 месяцев from delivery. It covers material and assembly defects, but not natural wear or damage caused by misuse.

Made in Poland

Shipped straight from the factory, built to European furniture manufacturing standards.
