RAVENNA B 200: one long chest instead of two short ones

A chest two metres long made of three parts: a wide bay under two doors on the left, three drawers in the middle, one more door on the right. It is the longest carcase in the B range, chosen where two short chests side by side would leave a seam in the middle of the wall.

All in black mat, sides included: the piece reads as a silhouette and the fluting shows as stripes where light meets shadow. The support is a gold metal frame around the base, the only light note on the piece.

Who it suits

For a roomy living or dining area and a wide hallway. Two metres cover the wall under a picture, and above the chest there is room for a wall-mounted television: a height of 89 cm leaves the screen at standing eye level.

What you will like

a bay under two doors on the left, with a shelf at half height
a smaller bay of the same kind on the right, under one door
three drawers between them, fronts with the same milling
two metres in one carcase, no seam mid-wall
a height of 89 cm on the frame and 87 cm on legs

Overall size: 200 cm along the wall, 42 cm from front to back, 89 cm tall. Two metres of top take a 65-inch television, or a pair of lamps at the ends.

What it stands with

Taken instead of a pair of 100 cm chests: no seam is left mid-wall, and the top works as one plane that things can be laid out on without a break. With the 200 television unit from the same range the chest goes on the opposite wall: their lengths match, and the room gains two equal horizontals. Black is chosen for contrast with pale walls: the piece becomes the main thing in the room rather than a background.

Will a two-metre chest get into a flat? It arrives flat-packed, and the longest part is the 200 cm top. That passes a standard doorway and a lift; the only trouble spots are tight stair turns.

Which is better under a television: the 200 chest or a TV unit? A chest 89 cm tall goes under a wall-mounted screen, a unit 58 cm tall under a screen on its stand. If the television hangs, the chest gives twice the storage over the same length.

Materials and finish

A laminated chipboard carcase, milled MDF fronts. Finish: black mat. Support: gold frame. Warranty 12 months. Factory BIM Furniture, Poland.

Frequently asked questions

Will a two-metre top not sag in the middle?
The drawer bank stands in the middle and acts as support: the top rests not only on the sides but on two inner walls. Sagging happens only in carcases without a central upright.

Can the chest stand away from a wall, as a room divider?
Its back panel is a finishing panel, not a decorative one, so it is best not turned towards a walkway. If the chest does stand mid-room, the back is screened by a hanging rug or set flush against a sofa.

More about this piece

Laminated chipboard

Wood particles pressed into a solid board and faced with laminate on both sides. The workhorse of cabinet furniture: holds its shape, tolerates everyday moisture, wipes clean.

MDF board

Wood fibres bonded under pressure make a panel denser than chipboard. It holds milled patterns and curved profiles, so fronts with relief are made of it.

Matt finish

No reflections, and it hides fingerprints and light scratches. In a small room it reads calmer than gloss.

Milled front

The pattern is cut into the panel itself rather than glued on, so it is felt by hand and cannot come away.

Fluted front

Vertical slats or grooves run across the face, drawing the eye upwards and playing with light to lift an otherwise plain carcase.

Metal supports

Metal legs or a frame carry weight better than plastic and do not work loose. On cabinet furniture the gap underneath also lets you clean below the piece.

Manufacturer warranty

The factory warranty runs 12 месяцев from delivery. It covers material and assembly defects, but not natural wear or damage caused by misuse.

Made in Poland

Shipped straight from the factory, built to European furniture manufacturing standards.
