RAVENNA B 200: two metres for a large panel

A television unit two metres long with four doors. Four bays of equal height, divided by vertical partitions, and not one open shelf: equipment, cables and oddments all disappear behind the front.

Carcase and fronts in white mat, rib and groove one colour: the pattern lives on shadow and deepens towards evening. The support is a gold metal frame around the base, the only light note on the piece.

Who it suits

Chosen for a 65-inch panel and up: such a screen has a wide stand that sits flush on a 150 cm unit. Here there is room at either side, and the unit does not look shorter than the television.

By size this is 200 cm along the wall, 42 cm deep and 58 cm to the top. The top holds 30 kg, what a 65-inch panel with its stand comes to.

What it stands with

This is the pick for a big screen and for a wall where the unit must be the main horizontal. Four doors against three on the 150 version give not only length but a fourth bay, usually for things not needed daily. If a console must stay in view, the F range has a unit of the same length with open bays. White is chosen when the furniture should merge with a pale wall and not shrink the room.

Is two metres too much for a television unit? Proportion is judged from the screen: the unit should be at least 20 cm wider on each side. For 65 inches that is exactly 200 cm; for 55 inches 150 is enough.

How are cables managed if the back panel is solid? The back panel stops short of the bottom, so a cable drops under the unit and reaches a socket behind it. An extension lead sits well on the floor beneath the carcase: a hand passes under both frame and legs.

Frequently asked questions

Do all four doors open the same way?
In pairs: the outer ones open towards the ends, the inner ones towards the middle. That way no space is needed in front for all four swinging at once.

The unit is longer than the wall - can it go into a corner?
Yes, if the corner is open: the carcase is rectangular, with no 45-degree cuts. Fitted hard into the corner of two walls, two metres need at least 45 cm clear on the adjacent wall.

Wood particles pressed into a solid board and faced with laminate on both sides. The workhorse of cabinet furniture: holds its shape, tolerates everyday moisture, wipes clean.

MDF board

Wood fibres bonded under pressure make a panel denser than chipboard. It holds milled patterns and curved profiles, so fronts with relief are made of it.

Matt finish

No reflections, and it hides fingerprints and light scratches. In a small room it reads calmer than gloss.

Milled front

The pattern is cut into the panel itself rather than glued on, so it is felt by hand and cannot come away.

Metal supports

Metal legs or a frame carry weight better than plastic and do not work loose. On cabinet furniture the gap underneath also lets you clean below the piece.
