RAVENNA CK 200: a unit with a lit niche

A television unit two metres long: doors at the sides, an open niche with a shelf in the middle and two drawers beneath it. An RGB strip comes with the unit, lighting the niche from within, so in the dark the kit on the shelf is visible without an overhead lamp.

A white mat carcase with a white gloss front of pyramid grid: matt and shine side by side, the border between them visible in the light. The support is a gold metal frame around the base, the only light note on the piece.

Who it suits

For a living room where films are watched in the dark: the lit niche adds a soft halo behind the screen, so the eyes tire less from contrast. The drawers under the niche take remotes and cables.

What you will like

an RGB strip is included and lights the niche from within
the strip has a US plug: an adapter is needed for an Israeli socket
an open niche with a shelf in the middle, two drawers beneath
doors at the sides hide what should not be on show
two metres along the wall, 42 cm deep

Dimensions: 200 cm long, 42 cm deep, 58 cm high. The top holds 30 kg, what a 65-inch panel with its stand comes to.

What it stands with

This is the only unit in the range with lighting included, and that is exactly why it is chosen. Other RAVENNA pieces have no lighting, so a room is best built this way: the CK unit glows while the chest and table beside it stay quiet. Two glowing things on one wall cancel each other out. White gloss is chosen for a dark room: the shiny front reflects light and does the work of an extra lamp.

Is the lighting included or bought separately? The RGB strip comes with the unit and costs nothing extra. The power supply has a US plug, so an Israeli socket will need an adapter - it costs very little and any hardware shop has one.

How does the CK unit differ from a plain 200 cm RAVENNA unit? By the lit open niche in the middle and the two drawers beneath it. On a plain 200 cm unit everything is behind doors, and a console there loses the remote signal.

Materials and finish

A laminated chipboard carcase, milled MDF fronts. Finish: white mat with white gloss front. Support: gold frame. Warranty 12 months. Factory BIM Furniture, Poland.

Frequently asked questions

Can the lighting be dimmed or is it full brightness only?
The RGB strip comes with a remote: colour and brightness both change. For an evening film it is usually set to a warm dim tone so the light does not compete with the screen.

What to do about the US plug?
A plain adapter for an Israeli socket is needed, available everywhere. The strip has a low-power supply, so neither a stabiliser nor a separate line is required.

More about this piece

Laminated chipboard

Wood particles pressed into a solid board and faced with laminate on both sides. The workhorse of cabinet furniture: holds its shape, tolerates everyday moisture, wipes clean.

MDF board

Wood fibres bonded under pressure make a panel denser than chipboard. It holds milled patterns and curved profiles, so fronts with relief are made of it.

Gloss finish

Reflects light and makes a piece look lighter. Fingerprints show more on dark gloss, so it needs wiping more often.

Matt finish

No reflections, and it hides fingerprints and light scratches. In a small room it reads calmer than gloss.

Milled front

The pattern is cut into the panel itself rather than glued on, so it is felt by hand and cannot come away.

Metal supports

Metal legs or a frame carry weight better than plastic and do not work loose. On cabinet furniture the gap underneath also lets you clean below the piece.

Manufacturer warranty

The factory warranty runs 12 месяцев from delivery. It covers material and assembly defects, but not natural wear or damage caused by misuse.

Made in Poland

Shipped straight from the factory, built to European furniture manufacturing standards.
