A living room is almost always built around one wall, and everything else is arranged with what is left.

Where to start
First decide what goes on the main wall: a full wall unit, a TV stand with shelves, or a display cabinet. That is the largest piece and it sets how much length remains for everything else. Measure the wall corner to corner rather than by the furniture standing there now, and mark the sockets separately: behind a wall unit they become unreachable, and the television and set top box need power.

Television height matters more than people expect. The centre of the screen should fall at roughly the eye level of a seated person, which is about 100 to 110 cm from the floor. A 50 cm stand plus a television on its foot usually lands in that range, whereas a set hung above a tall chest ends up too high, and after an hour of watching your neck notices.
