Why solid wood lasts longer specifically in a bed
A bed is loaded constantly and unevenly: the weight falls on the side rails and on the bolt points. On board models the weak spot is precisely the joint, because the fixing is held in the soft core of the board and works its socket loose over time. In solid wood the fixing sits in whole timber and can be tightened as often as you like.

Wood and sun. Within a few years the finish beside a window fades unevenly, and the difference between the lit and shaded parts of a headboard becomes visible. That is a property of natural wood rather than a defect, and the answer is placement or a curtain. The upside is that veneer and solid wood can be sanded back and refinished, while printed board cannot.
