| Property | What it gives you |
|---|---|
| Weight | Several times lighter. One person can move the bed, and it travels in two flat boxes. |
| Assembly | A bolted frame that goes together in half an hour and comes apart as many times as needed. A board bed loosens with repeated dismantling. |
| Durability | Metal does not swell with damp or delaminate. Board fails at the edging; metal has none. |
| Appearance | The frame is visible and stays part of the room. Do not expect a massive upholstered headboard here. |
About creaking
Metal beds start to creak for the same reason wooden ones do: bolted joints develop play over time. The fix takes five minutes once a year, turning the bed over and tightening every bolt. If the creak appears sooner, it is usually the slats of the base having shifted in their clips rather than the frame itself.
What is nearby
Board and solid wood beds are in Beds. Mattresses are in Mattresses, which also shows the lengths in stock.
