Chest of drawers for a child room

Children chests in Israel: drawers at child height

A chest outlives the bed in a child room: it is needed by a toddler and by a teenager alike, so it is usually bought with growth in mind.

Chests by the Polish maker MEBLE WJ from its youth collections, among them ANGEL, TWENTY, NOVI and FANO. Models from the same series appear among the school desks too, so the room can be put together in one shade with matching handles.

In a child room a chest beats a wardrobe for everyday clothes: there is no rail to reach up to, everything lies on its own shelf and can be fetched without help. A practical rule is that the bottom drawer should open without effort, which makes smooth runners more important here than in an adult room.

What to consider

Feature	Why it matters
Height	A low chest the child opens alone; a tall one holds what adults reach down.
Drawers or doors	Drawers suit clothes; behind doors it is better to keep toys and boxes.
Edging	Rounded corners and thick edging survive knocks without chipping.
Collection	A chest from the same series as the bed and desk removes the need to match shades.
