Coffee table A923 with barley twist legs

A table 120 cm long and 60 cm wide, standing 45 cm high. Its signature is the legs: turned in a barley twist like a rope, finishing in a turned bead near the floor. The top carries a low lip around the perimeter and an oval veneer medallion at its centre.

How it is made. Wood in a honey shade under a half-matt lacquer. A double line is drawn around the edge of the top, following the perimeter, and fine bead carving runs along the lower edge of the rail. The twist on the legs is cut deeply and reads from every side. There is no lower shelf; the table stands openly on four legs.

Worth knowing. The raised lip of about a centimetre keeps small objects from sliding off, while a large tray is less comfortable to rest on it: trays go inside the lip rather than across it. The twist on the legs is wiped along the groove. The floor under the table is clear and a robot vacuum drives between the legs.

What it stands with. The light honey tone and the twisted legs pull towards a Mediterranean or Provencal set: cane chairs, pale textiles, terracotta. Beside heavy dark classic furniture the table will read as a visitor from another room.

More about this piece

Natural wood veneer

A thin slice of real timber over a panel. The grain differs from piece to piece; it looks and feels like wood while the panel underneath stays stable.

Lacquer finish

The surface is sealed with lacquer, which closes the pores and protects against moisture and stains. Available matt or glossy.

Matt finish

No reflections, and it hides fingerprints and light scratches. In a small room it reads calmer than gloss.

Milled front

The pattern is cut into the panel itself rather than glued on, so it is felt by hand and cannot come away.

Made in Israel

Built at a local factory, so lead times are shorter and service and spare parts are close at hand.
