RAVENNA B 150: a low television unit with three doors

A television unit 150 cm long with three hinged doors. There are no shelves inside: vertical dividers split the carcase, and a tall console fits into each bay whole, without having to lie on its side.

All in black mat, sides included: the piece reads as a silhouette and the fluting shows as stripes where light meets shadow. The support is four turned black metal legs, barely visible on a dark floor.

Who it suits

For a room where the television stands on furniture rather than hangs. A 55-inch screen fits with room to spare at the sides. Three bays separate the kit: console, receiver, discs and remotes stop sharing one pile.

What you will like

three hinged doors with one through-space behind them
vertical dividers instead of shelves
a height of 58 cm: the screen at seated eye level
fronts without handles or fittings
a depth of 42 cm keeps the unit inside the line of a sofa

Dimensions: 150 cm long, 42 cm deep, 56 cm high. The height is set for a sofa: the screen lands at seated eye level rather than above it, and the neck is not tipped back.

What it stands with

Chosen when the wall is short or the television modest: 150 cm do not look empty under a 50 to 55-inch screen, while a two-metre unit under such a screen looks disproportionately long. For a large panel the same range offers a 200 unit with four doors. Black is chosen for contrast with pale walls: the piece becomes the main thing in the room rather than a background.

What television will stand on the RAVENNA B 150 unit? A screen up to 55 inches: its stand spans about 110 cm, leaving a margin at the sides. The top holds 25 kg, and 55 inches comes to around 21.

Where does a console go if there are no shelves inside? Into any of the three bays: they are full carcase height, so a console stands upright as it should. A remote will not reach through a door, so infrared kit belongs in a unit with an open bay.

Materials and finish

A laminated chipboard carcase, milled MDF fronts. Finish: black mat. Support: black legs. Warranty 12 months. Factory BIM Furniture, Poland.

Frequently asked questions

Is the milling on the front hard to wipe?
Dust settles in the grooves, but they are wide. A dry brush or cloth along the relief clears it in one pass; across it, less well.

Can the support be swapped later?
The support is bolted to the bottom of the carcase, and the range offers both frames and legs in either colour. They are sold separately, though, and with the unit you get the support named in the title.

More about this piece

Laminated chipboard

Wood particles pressed into a solid board and faced with laminate on both sides. The workhorse of cabinet furniture: holds its shape, tolerates everyday moisture, wipes clean.

MDF board

Wood fibres bonded under pressure make a panel denser than chipboard. It holds milled patterns and curved profiles, so fronts with relief are made of it.

Manufacturer warranty

The factory warranty runs 12 месяцев from delivery. It covers material and assembly defects, but not natural wear or damage caused by misuse.

Made in Poland

Shipped straight from the factory, built to European furniture manufacturing standards.
