Corner wardrobe

Corner wardrobes in Israel: a corner instead of a wall

The corner of a room is the one place ordinary furniture almost always leaves empty. A corner wardrobe takes all of it.

Models by the Polish maker MEBLE WJ, including versions with a mirrored front and two-door units. The section is small and still growing, so if the right width is not here, see hinged wardrobes – a narrow unit often solves the same corner alongside the main wardrobe.

A corner wardrobe wins on depth along the diagonal rather than on floor area: it takes a full-length rail that holds coats and dresses, a depth a narrow straight wardrobe never has. The trade-off is reaching the far end, so off-season clothes usually go there.

What to check before buying

What to check	Why
The corner must be square	Uneven walls in an older building will leave a gap behind the unit.
Door swing	A corner door sweeps a wider arc than a straight one. Make sure nothing stands beside it.
Mirrored front	Visually widens the corner and replaces a separate mirror in the room.
Pairing	A corner wardrobe is often set next to a straight one so the whole wall closes without a gap.
