Garden furniture in Israel: folding chairs and sun loungers

Outdoor furniture in Israel lives in two modes: nine months under the sun and three under rain with salt in the air. That is what decides what survives here.

What matters in the Israeli climate

The sun here destroys not the metal but the fabric and the plastic: within a couple of seasons in direct sun fabric fades and loses tear strength. So outdoor furniture is moved into shade or under cover when not in use, and that multiplies its life. The second factor is proximity to the sea: salt in the air eats unprotected metal faster than rain does.
