Corner dining area with bench and table

A corner unit seats more people at the table than chairs do in the same area. The reason is simple: nobody needs a walkway behind someone sitting on a bench.

What you gain and what you give up

An ordinary chair needs 80 to 90 cm behind it so a person can push back and stand. A bench against the wall needs none of that, because people slide in from the side. In a kitchen with a metre left between the table and the units, that is what decides whether a dining area fits at all.

There is a flip side, and it is better known in advance. For whoever sits at the far end by the wall to get out, everyone seated after them has to stand up. In a family that becomes a habit; with frequent guests it becomes a nuisance.

What is included

A corner unit includes the corner bench, a table and two chairs or stools. The exact contents and the dimensions of each part are listed on the model page.

If the corner is taken and a bench will not fit, an ordinary table and chairs set is in Dining room sets, and tables on their own are in Dining tables.
