Product Overview

INDYGO Chest 170 cm – six drawers in two columns, beige front

The roomiest chest in the collection: six drawers arranged in two columns of three across 170.5 cm. This is no longer an addition to a wardrobe but storage in its own right, taking the linen, everyday clothes and bedding of a whole room. Each drawer runs on metal ball-bearing full-extension runners and opens completely.

The finish stays quiet: Wotan oak and soft beige. Over a metre and a half a light front stops the chest becoming a dark band along the wall.

Who it suits

For an adult bedroom where the chest replaces half a wardrobe. For a living room beneath a wall-mounted television: 170.5 cm suits a 55 to 65 inch screen, and closed drawers hide everything that usually sits out in the open. For a shared child's room, where dividing things by drawer works better than by shelf.

What you will like

Six drawers in two columns, so belongings are sorted by purpose rather than piled into one
All drawers on metal ball-bearing full-extension runners
Metal handles in matt gold, two to each column
170.5 cm across and 46.5 cm deep, matching a three-door wardrobe for folded clothing
A top over a metre and a half long: room for a television and decor together
Laminated board that resists scratches

Sizes and what fits

In numbers that is 170.5 cm along the wall, 81 cm high and 46.5 cm deep. Six drawers cover one person's seasonal wardrobe or a couple's folded clothes. The 46.5 cm depth lets a stack lie along the drawer instead of being turned sideways.

Materials and build

Laminated chipboard: body and top in Wotan oak, fronts in a soft beige. Edges are banded all round and the surface takes damp cleaning. All hardware is metal, the handles finished in matt gold. GALA MEBLE, Poland, since 1980. Warranty 12 months.

A chest or a second wardrobe for folded clothes? For folded clothes a wide chest wins: a wardrobe gives them two or three shelves, while INDYGO K6S gives six drawers, and each item comes out without dismantling the pile above it.

Can a television stand on it? A top 170.5 cm long and 46.5 cm deep carries a television stand comfortably. If your screen is on the wall, the chest below covers the same span as a full TV unit.

Assembly and delivery

The chest ships flat-packed and unassembled, with instructions and fittings. It is large and heavy and the six drawers need aligning in one line, so assembly is nearly always ordered with delivery. The fitter builds it in place and removes the packaging. Delivery and assembly are quoted by address.

Frequently asked

Does it arrive assembled?
No, it comes unassembled with instructions and fittings. For a piece this long, assembly is best ordered together with delivery.

Will it fit through the doorway?
Yes, it travels flat-packed and is built in the room itself, so nothing has to be carried through whole.

Will the drawers take the load?
They run on metal ball-bearing runners rated for daily use. Unlike roller runners they do not sag over time.
