INDYGO Chest of Drawers 138 cm – two doors and three drawers, beige front

This chest solves two problems at once: it gives you plenty of closed storage without crowding the room. Two hinged doors sit at the sides with three drawers between them, and at only 40 cm deep the piece fits comfortably along a wall even in a walk-through room. The mix of drawers and doors is unusual, since most chests make you choose one or the other.

A beige front over warm Wotan oak reads softly. Across nearly a metre and a half a light front keeps the chest from looking heavy.

Who it suits

In a living room it becomes the main storage unit instead of a bulky cabinet: documents, electronics and everything that should stay out of sight go behind the doors, while the top stays clear for a lamp or a vase. In a bedroom it takes on linen and the clothes that never fit in the wardrobe. In a child's or teenager's room the height of 81 cm works well, because a child can reach the top drawer without help.

Sizes and what fits

138 cm across, 40 cm from front to back, 81 cm tall. The three central drawers are meant for linen, small items and paperwork, while the side compartments behind the doors take bulkier things such as boxes, folders and electronics. At 81 cm the top doubles as a standing work surface.

Materials and build

The body and top are laminated chipboard, the edge is banded all round and the surface stands up to everyday scratches and to a damp cloth. All hardware is metal: ball-bearing runners and matt gold handles. GALA MEBLE has been manufacturing in Poland since 1980. Warranty 12 months.

Which chest of drawers works in a narrow room? Look at the depth rather than the length. INDYGO K2D3S is 40 cm deep, some 5 to 15 cm less than a standard chest, and once your walkway drops below a metre that difference is what stops the furniture getting in the way. The chest arrives flat-packed and unassembled, with instructions and all the hardware included. It is a multi-part piece, so it is easier to leave assembly to our fitters: they deliver, build it on the spot, align the doors and take the packaging away.
