JANTAR coffee table 120 cm: two planes on four legs

A rectangular table in the same oak as the rest of the collection, but without a single decorative detail: only timber, four legs tapering towards the floor and two planes, the top and the shelf beneath it. The shape is plain enough that the table lives happily beside a JANTAR display cabinet and beside a sofa from somewhere else entirely.

Who it suits

A living room with a three seat sofa: 120 cm is exactly the length at which the table neither disappears in front of it nor blocks the way past. Families whose coffee table carries the second life of the room: remotes, books, colouring pages. The lower shelf takes all of that off the upper plane and leaves the top clear for cups. Size and what fits

A top of 120 by 60 cm, height 50 cm. Fifty centimetres is a touch above the usual coffee table, and a cup can be reached from the sofa without leaning forward. The lower shelf takes a stack of books, a basket or a tray.

How it sits in the room

Around forty centimetres is the usual gap between sofa and table: less feels tight for legs, more is awkward to reach across. At 120 cm the table asks for roughly two metres of clear floor in front of the sofa, or the room begins to look crowded.

The shape is plain, and that is a deliberate choice by the collection: next to a display cabinet with glass, lighting and a decorative band, a loud table would be one thing too many. Here it holds the pause.
