Self assembly furniture in Israel

D.I.Y furniture: Spanish Fores Habitat you assemble yourself

This furniture is designed from the outset to be assembled at home rather than merely shipped flat. The difference is real, and it shows from the first box.

How D.I.Y differs from ordinary cabinet furniture

What	Where the difference lies
Weight and size	The carcasses are lighter and smaller, and one person can lift the box. An ordinary wall unit does not always go into a lift even with two.
Fixings	The joints are designed for the screwdriver and hex key in the box. Nothing needs drilling or trimming.
Number of parts	Fewer panels and fewer steps in the instructions, because the pieces are simple in construction.
Price	Lower, because no fitter labour is built into it.

One factory

The whole section is Fores Habitat of Spain. One factory means the decors agree across subsections: a desk, a shelving unit and a cabinet from different parts of the range will sit in one room as a set rather than as pieces that happened to end up together.

Sections

Section	What is inside
Desks and bookcases	The largest subsection: desks for work and study, shelving and bookcases.
Shoe cabinets and storage	Narrow carcasses for the hallway and for storage.
Utility cabinets and chests	For a store room, kitchen or balcony.
Consoles and hallway furniture	Narrow tables along a wall and furniture for the corridor.
TV stands and coffee tables	For the living room.
Dining tables and chairs	A small subsection.

What to have ready before assembling. A cross head screwdriver and preferably a driver on a low setting: the hex key in the box works, but by the twentieth screw your hand notices. You also want clear floor area larger than the piece itself, and something soft under the parts so the fronts do not scrape on tiles. Two people are faster not because it is heavy but because the carcass has to be held square while the corners are tightened.

If you would rather not assemble

We can do the assembly for a separate charge. But with this range self assembly usually makes sense: the pieces are simple, and a desk or a shelving unit takes between half an hour and an hour.
