Living room armchairs: upholstered, wooden and recliners

Living room chairs in Israel: KURATOR, recliners and seating sets

An armchair solves what a sofa cannot: it seats one person without taking up a whole wall.

Three different chairs for three different jobs

Type	What it is for
Upholstered armchair	Padded, wide seat. For reading and conversation. Takes more room than a photograph suggests.
Wooden with armrests	Firmer and more compact. Works as a chair by the window and as a seat at the head of the table.
Recliner	With a tilt mechanism and footrest. For television. Needs clearance behind the backrest.
Seating set	Two armchairs with a sofa and a coffee table. A ready made zone if the living room is empty.

The trap when matching a sofa

An armchair is almost always the second purchase, once the sofa is already there. And the mistake is always the same: buying the chair in the same fabric so it matches. Upholstery from different batches varies in shade, and at a different angle to the window the difference only sharpens. It is easier to choose a deliberately different colour than to try to match a tone.

A recliner needs space behind it, not in front. The back tilts rearwards, and if the chair stands against a wall the mechanism simply will not open fully. The clearance is stated on the product page, and it should be checked before ordering rather than after delivery.
