Plugs are usually not included with a shelf, because the factory has no way of knowing what you will be drilling into. Buy them at a hardware shop by wall type and by the weight of what will sit on the shelf, not by the weight of the shelf itself.
What the section holds
| Type | What is particular about it |
|---|---|
| Wall shelves | Fixed to the wall, clear of the floor. For books, decor and equipment. |
| Bookcases | Stand on the floor and need no drilling. They win wherever the wall cannot be touched. |
| Hanging units | Several shelves in one carcass, fixed to the wall as a single piece. |
About shelf length. A shelf longer than 90 cm with no support in the middle will sag under books over time, and that is a property of the material rather than a defect. For books, choose short spans or a model with an intermediate upright. For light decor the length does not matter.
What is nearby
Bookcases with doors and tall shelving are gathered in Office furniture. Shelves that form part of a living room wall unit come with the wall units.
