Three measurements a desk starts with

| Height | The standard is 75 cm. A chair with a seat around 45 cm goes with it. |
| Depth | At least 60 cm if there is a monitor. The screen should sit an arm length away, or the eyes tire sooner. |
| Width | 120 cm is the minimum for a monitor with a keyboard and papers. 80 cm only works for a laptop. |

About working from home. A desk facing a wall works better than a desk in the middle of the room: nothing moves behind your back and attention is not tugged away. But if the desk stands in the living room, a model with a hutch or with doors wins: the working mess closes away in a minute and the room becomes living space again by evening.
