A chair is chosen with the eyes but lived with through the legs and the back. Three numbers decide almost everything, and none of them shows in a photograph.

Three numbers worth checking

| Seat height | A standard 75 cm table needs 45 cm. The check is simple: 27 to 32 cm should remain between the seat and the underside of the tabletop. |
| Seat depth | Between 40 and 45 cm. A seat that is too deep forces you either to slide forward or to perch on the edge, because your back never reaches the backrest. |
| Width across the armrests | If there are armrests, the chair has to slide under the tabletop. Otherwise it stands in the walkway and the table turns out smaller than the one you bought. |

The split is not strict: some models have a wooden frame and a fabric seat, so they appear in both sections.
About quantity. Chairs get added far less often than people plan, and a discontinued model will not turn up a year later. If the table seats six and guests are rare, it is more honest to take six at once than four and «we will add more later». The shade difference between production batches shows even within one factory.
