TV recliner chairs

TV recliners in Israel: reclining back and extending footrest
A recliner differs from an ordinary armchair in one movement: the back tilts and the footrest slides out, putting the body in a position where the neck is no longer holding the head up.
The number that matters: space behind
A recliner back travels rearwards, not just downwards. So the chair cannot stand hard against a wall: the mechanism simply will not open fully. The clearance behind the backrest is stated on the model page and should be measured with a tape before ordering. It is the most common cause of disappointment after delivery, and it is entirely preventable.
Distance to the screen
A comfortable distance from the television is roughly one and a half to two screen diagonals. For 55 inches that is about 2 to 2.8 metres. In a small living room a reclined chair eats into that distance, because the footrest extends half a metre forward. Measure from the open position, not the closed one.
A recliner is a mechanism, and it is the mechanism that wears rather than the upholstery. A chair reclined every evening will run close to two thousand cycles in five years. When choosing, watch how it behaves as it opens: if the movement jerks or takes force in a brand new chair, it only gets worse.
