JANTAR TV unit, 3 doors, 180 cm, plinth base

JANTAR TV unit on a plinth, 180 cm

Low, closed and standing tight to the floor. Three doors across a metre eighty, a continuous timber base, 46 cm of height. Of all the units in the collection this one is furthest from the look of a piece on legs: it reads as a volume cut from oak and set against the wall.

How it is built

• a timber base carried the full length of the body
• a trio of doors, all storage shut away
• the divider in oak, in lacobel, in stone-figured HPL or lit from within
• flush fronts, nothing to grip but the groove
• a single top panel
• lacquered rustic oak

Who it suits

Homes with the set fixed to the wall, where air between screen and unit matters. A living room with a rug. And an interior that already holds a JANTAR chest or display cabinet on a plinth: a shared base ties pieces together more strongly than a shared finish.

Size and what fits

Across the front 180 cm, depth 52 cm, height 46 cm. Three closed compartments divide the length roughly evenly. The depth lets boxes and equipment stand inside rather than only lie flat.

How it sits in the room

Between this unit and the legged version there is no difference in the interior at all: the same three doors, the same length, only the base and six centimetres of height set them apart. Forty six centimetres is low for watching seated if the television stands on the unit: the screen ends up below eye level. For a wall mounted set it is the better choice. A continuous base needs a level floor but leaves no gap at the wall.

Three compartments across 180 cm give sixty centimetres each. That is the size that swallows a games console with room to breathe, a stack of board games or a couple of baskets for oddments. From outside all of it is shut behind an even oak face.
