JANTAR TV unit, 2 doors and 2 drawers, 220 cm, plinth base

JANTAR TV unit on a plinth, 220 cm long and only 46 high

The same length, but lower and denser. Forty six centimetres is clearly less than the legged version, and the difference tells where the television hangs on the wall: the lower the unit, the more air between it and the screen. A continuous timber base removes the gap at floor level, and a two metre piece reads as built in.

What it is made of

• an unbroken timber base under the full length
• a pair of drawers beside a pair of doors
• the dividing band in any of four finishes, priced the same
• nothing protruding: neither handle nor hinge
• eased corners on the body
• rustic oak beneath lacquer

Who it suits

Rooms with the television on the wall, where the distance from unit to screen matters. A home with a rug, where a legged unit would need levelling. And an interior where all the JANTAR pieces were taken on plinths: the TV unit, the chest and the display cabinet then stand on one line along the floor, and the room looks composed rather than assembled from different things.

Size and what fits

The unit runs 220 cm, is 52 cm deep and tops out at 46 cm from the floor. Inside are two drawers for the small things that usually drift around a television and two closed compartments for the rest. The top panel is continuous over the whole length.

How it sits in the room

At 46 cm a television standing on the unit would be rather low for watching seated, so this version is mostly taken for a wall mounted screen. Leave half a metre of travel in front of the drawers. The plinth meets the floor tightly, and no gap is left between unit and wall for remotes to fall into.

Materials and finish

Solid oak and board under natural oak veneer, rustic oak finish with lacquer on top. The plinth is the same timber. The Polish MEBIN factory gives a year of warranty.
