JANTAR chest of drawers, 2 doors and 3 drawers, 160 cm, on metal legs

JANTAR sideboard 160 cm with drawers: storage for two kinds of things

The same principle as the larger model, only twenty centimetres shorter. The drawers answer for small things, the doors for bulky ones, and the band between them breaks up the front. A difference of twenty centimetres sounds trivial, yet it is exactly what decides whether the chest will stand between a window and a corner. It rests on black metal legs.

Inside and out

• a run of three drawers on one side of the band
• a pair of doors on the other, everything behind them closed
• band available four ways: oak, lacobel, marble HPL, lit amber
• every front opens by the same recessed dark groove
• the carcass rides clear of the floor on slim black supports
• softened edges and an unbroken top surface

Who it suits

A bedroom: underwear and small things go into the drawers, bedding and pillows behind the doors. A child’s room, where some things must be reachable in one movement and others out of sight. A modest living room where 180 cm is already too much and 140 too little. Buying furniture online has long been ordinary in Israel, and this chest is ordered the same way.

Size and what fits

Width across the front 160 cm, depth 52 cm, height 77 cm. The drawers run the full depth of the carcass and take what usually lies in the wardrobe in piles. Behind the doors the compartment height allows things to stand upright rather than only lie flat.

Placing it

Seventy seven centimetres is the height at which changing a baby and unpacking the shopping are both comfortable. Wall space remains above: a mirror at this height is hung so its lower edge sits about twenty centimetres above the top. Drawers need clearance forwards, doors sideways.

Materials and finish

Oak does the work: solid where the load is, veneer where the plane is. Rustic oak tone, lacquered. From Poland, the MEBIN factory, one year warranty.
