JANTAR TV unit 180 cm: three doors, everything closed

The middle length of the collection and the most closed of the three: no drawers, all the storage behind three solid doors. A unit like this shows nothing, and that is its job: under the television there remains an even plane of oak with one dark line across the fronts and a vertical band between the sections.

Who it suits

A mid sized living room where 220 cm is too long and 140 disappears under a large screen. Anyone who dislikes open niches: boxes, discs and cables go behind doors and gather no dust in plain sight. And a family with small children, who prefer furniture without open shelves at arm height.

Size and what fits

180 cm long, 52 cm deep, 52 cm high. Three compartments of roughly sixty centimetres each: a set top box, a console and a box of cables take one apiece. A height of 52 cm puts the screen at a comfortable level from the sofa.

How it sits in the room

Each door swings about sixty centimetres sideways, worth allowing for in a room with a coffee table opposite. The factory shows no cable cut outs, so cables will have to come out at the side or the back, as the construction allows.

A closed unit wins where the equipment is mismatched: a set top box, a games console, an old turntable and a box of remotes look like a depot on an open shelf. Behind doors they simply exist, and the room stays calm.
